Thanks to denial, I am immortal

— Philip J. Fry, Futurama

Hello world, I'm Mahima, an award-winning data journalist, helping you make sense of data through analysis and visualization. My expertise lies in data and design.

Currently a data developer at the Canadian Press where I help automate news tasks for the company and clients. I was covering the COVID-19 pandemic for CTVNews.ca by making daily news graphics and interactive dashboards for the website.

Before immigrating to Canada, I was a data journalist for the BBC in New Delhi where I used data-driven and design principles for media research and analysis across South and East Asia.

In 2016, I was part of the data desk on the investigative team at the Palm Beach Post in South Florida. Here I used data to investigate state and local officials. I covered President Trump, school shootings, hurricanes and the drug epidemic in South Florida.

I graduated from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York with a master's in Computational Journalism. Before that, I was working for an independent media organization in New Delhi, India where I designed graphics and interactive visualizations.

I am obsessed with manga and anime. Not the otaku kind of obsession, but the kind that sempai always notices.

I use design and art as a form of catharsis
